A 26 year old female was stabbed multiple times during an attempted robbery in Hambanathi - KZN during the early hours of this morning (Thursday).

The victim was walking to work when she was accosted by a man on Makawuse Road. The man was known to the female. He demanded her valuables, but she resisted. He produced a knife and stabbed her on her left arm, chest and left breast. He was apprehended and beaten by the community as he attempted to flee.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on scene at approximately 04:17 and restrained the suspect. The female was transported privately to a medical facility.

The suspect was detained at SAPS Tongaat.
