A 44 year old Malawian national was shot on Old Main Road in Cornubia - KZN this afternoon (Thursday).

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on scene at approximately 21:17 and discovered several motorcyclists in attendance. The victim was seated on a grass verge next to the road. He was shot once in the abdomen.

His associates informed Reaction Officers that the injured male provides a delivery service for fast food outlets in Verulam - KZN. It was alleged that the suspect who shot him is known and the motive for the shooting is believed to be related to a dispute over delivery routes.

Witnesses reported seeing two (2) men fleeing towards Phoenix - KZN on a motorcycle (make, model & registration unknown) following the incident. The victim was still in possession of his valuables and motorbike. The suspects are also believed to be foreign nationals.

The injured male was expedited privately to a medical facility.
