Exposing the underbelly of the crime-wave that has crashed onto the shores of the Stellenbosch University, Stellenbosch, Capetown.
A family is still in shock and disbelief after their Son, a 19 year old science student, was carelessly stabbed to death and robbed of his laptop whilst making his way back to his residence on an e-bike in the early hours of the morning 16 October 2024 along Borcherds street, off Campus. JESSE MITCHELL (19) would have celebrated his birthday on the very day that he was murdered. Jesse and three (3) other students were in the library working on a science project before they all left for their respective places of residence. Jesse was alone. It is alleged that obstacles were placed in the road along which Jesse was traveling and that when he slowed down to navigate these obstacles that he was pounced upon. Word to this office is that the SAPS has made arrests in this case. Our sincere condolences go out to the Mitchell family at this time. I cannot begin to imagine your pain. RIP young man. May your death not be in vain.
On 06 October 2024 a female student (20) of the university was abducted from outside a popular bar in Plein Street and taken and her family was extorted. This student was subsequently released. Two (2) men have been arrested aged 24 and 25. These men are facing charges of kidnapping, extortion and contravention of the immigrations act.
Below is a list of the crimes and dates that have been reported but I can tell you from all of the messages that I have received that this is not an accurate reflection of the amount of crime that is being perpetrated.

Readers, this information has been collated from various WhatsApp groups on which parents/victims have reported these incidents. In my experience, many of these incidents, especially kidnappings, are not being reported because the family is warned NOT to contact the Police or risk their child being murdered. Parents have therefore opted to deal directly with the kidnappers thereby giving them hope that they will get their child back alive.
If you have a child at Stellies the perception is that you as a family has money. This is why these children are being targeted. No consideration or thought is given to the families who have had to hold down three jobs in order for them to be able to give their child a better education. To these criminals, if your child is at Stellies, you will be able to pay the ransom.
Expensive shoes, handbags, motor cars, watches, high-end phones/laptops and a generous allowance create an impression that your child comes from wealth, and this is all that these criminals see. Please consider this before capitulating to the whims of a child who simply wants to fit in by having the best of everything.
Attached is a photo of Jesse Mitchell along with images of the injuries inflicted on some of the other students who have been attacked.
My post is not an indictment on any of the establishments mentioned. I mention these only as point of reference. Every establishment that opens its doors to Stellies students is making an effort to contain the crime and protect its patrons.
If the new GNU wants to make a difference let it begin by ejecting illegal immigrants from our Country, by investigating the department of Home Affairs and by ejecting every person living here with fraudulent/illegally obtained documents and by protecting our borders from these people making their way back. Many cities, Capetown included, are now over-run with illegal immigrants who dominate drug trafficking, extortion, kidnappings, receiving of stolen property and human trafficking.
The children of our universities are our future. We need to protect them with all that we have.
